On November 12, 2023, members of the Brownsville Area XC and Track & Field teams participated in Commissioner Scott Dunn's 3rd Annual Veterans Marathon Relay. Participating members were, Jonathan Vasbinder, Sam Volstedt, Preston Evanchak, Payton Evanchak, and Ashley Evanchak. Commissioner Dunn expressed his gratitude for his new Brownsville hat and track shirt that he was given as thanks for honoring military veterans and choosing Brownsville Area School District as this year's location for the relay.

Ms. Nicholson comes to Brownsville Area School District with 17 years of experience. Most recently, Ms. Nicholson was a Supervisor of Special Education at Intermediate Unit 1. Ms. Nicholson supervised the hearing and vision program as well as the Early Intervention Program. She has served as an administrator on PaTTAN's Deaf/Blind Resource Team at Intermediate Unit for the past two years. Prior to working in administration, she worked as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired for Intermediate Unit 1 as well as a special education teacher at Adelphoi Village.
Ms. Nicholson is presently working on her doctorate in Educational Administration and Leadership. Ms. Nicholson completed the Special Education Supervision program at Slippery Rock University. She has earned her Master's of Education (Teacher of Visually Impaired) at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh PA. From the Carlow University in Pittsburgh, PA Nicholson has earned an Autism Endorsement and Master of Education (Special Education K-8/Early Childhood Education-Birth-3). Ms. Nicholson earned her Bachelor of Arts from California University of Pennsylvania, California, PA.


We welcome Mrs. Andrea Costabile to BASD as our new Cyber Coordinator and Assistant Principal. Mrs. Costabile graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She then continued her educational journey at California University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 2011 with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with a concentration in Social Studies and in 2018 with a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and K-12 Principal Certificate. She is currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program at Liberty University with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction and expected graduation date of August 2023. Mrs. Costabile has experience teaching secondary Social Studies, English Language Arts, and Middle-Leval Mathematics with extensive experience in cyber education. She currently resides in Connellsville, PA with her husband, Chad.
