ATTENTION SENIORS – THE CLASS OF 2013

The summer of 2012 should be spent “college searching.” Now is
the time to do web searches and college visits. Narrow your
choices and decide what colleges/universities your wish to attend.

Remember: September through December is when you should be sending
in your college applications. (Make it your goal to have all
applications done by Thanksgiving.)

January through May is when you should be working with the selected
college’s financial aid department and completing all financial aid paperwork.

Important! If you have not taken the SAT or ACT yet, you must take it
as soon as possible. (See the Student Development Center link for the
upcoming dates.)

Upcoming date: On NOVEMBER 14, 2012, Brownsville Area High School will be
hosting a Financial Aid night with Jayanne Harr, a representative for PHEAA.
This will be a perfect opportunity for the parents of college-bound seniors
to get their questions answered regarding financial aid.

Message from High School Student Development Center (Guidance Office)

Here is a tool for students to give them the resources they need to
turn their interests into life-long careers.

www.educationplanner.org

This site offers in-depth resources to help students learn about and
explore hundreds of careers, colleges, and money management solutions.
This site also provides parents with the details they need to understand
their role in helping students make the best decisions. In particular, it
explains the many ways parents—along with their student—can prepare for and
finance higher education. For further information regarding Student Development
(Guidance) services, please check our web link.
