Superintendents' comments pertaining to
Representative Mahoney's School Merger Study
1. Student population numbers are skewed and lower than the actual numbers
2. Overall population of the school district has gone up 27.4%. Based on Census data
3. At no time has the representative discussed the issues with Superintendents. Only Business Managers
4. Other states who have county wide schools have shown an increase in costs and no major academic change. (West Virginia, Maryland are a few)
5. Who will decide on the tax increases based on a county wide system and what type of salary scale will be put into place?
These are issues that have not been thought out when this study was done. What impact will this have on the overall economy. Again, this has not been thought out.
We are always looking to cut costs without cutting education. To cut costs and not know the true impact it has on the taxpayer and parent but most of all to not know the impact it has on our children is inexcusable!
